4 Military Dogs Receive K9 Medal Of Courage, The Nation's Highest Honor For K9s

4 retired military working dogs were recently honored with the “American Humane K-9 Medal for Courage”, which is the nation’s highest K-9 honor for extraordinary valor & service to the country. The ex-K9s were awarded in a glittering ceremony in Capitol Hill.
Many young men and women deployed to serve in the war are able to come home safely to their families thanks of the skillful acts of these military-trained dogs. This is why American Humane has always been committed toward celebrating and honoring the selfless services of the brave K9s in the battlefield.

The 4 dogs that were honored were Emmie, Niko, Troll and Yeager. They were used in various capacities in patrol, drug and explosive detection, and other specialized missions for the Department of Defense and other government agencies.
This video shows an interview with Sgt. Yeager who lost his handler in an explosion in Iraq. Yeager has been battle scarred after the countless sacrifices that he made to keep the country safe. We are so proud of every K9 who dedicate their lives to the country. We love you, brave ones! Congratulations!
