A Palm Island, Florida man has been arrested after he left his 17-year-old Siberian Husky in the hot trunk of his SUV for 13 hours overnight in a parking lot.
77-year-old James Granato was booked into Charlotte County Jail and now faces two felony animal cruelty charges.
Granato told Charlotte County Animal Control that he just got to Florida from out of state with his wife and dog. He said the dog, named Snippy, is always yelping in pain ever since he lost then use of his legs, and claims he left him in the car in a nearby employee parking lot because he “didn’t want to disturb his neighbor’s with the dog’s cries.”
Sadly, the loss of his ability to walk is not the only thing that was wrong with this senior pup. Snippy also had a mass in his ear that Granato neglected to take care of.

Vets recommended removing the tumor months ago, but Granato never brought him to have it done. Because of this, the mass would become infected on occasion and end up getting maggots inside of it from lack of medical care.
Granato brought the dog to the clinic the following day to have him humanely euthanized.
